“Snow’s Over”

Now that the”snow”emergency appears to be over at our house here in CoMO, back to politics.

I’m confused (something many will not be surprised to learn). Where was all of the outrage when public employees lost their jobs over the last four years? Many screamed it was necessary – OK – so be it.

I contend the same is true for the bloated military industrial complex. I’m sick of hearing about all of the people who will lose their jobs as a result of the pending sequester. The Army says we do not need any more tanks (http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/09/army-to-congress-thanks-but-no-tanks/) yet, we continue to produce tanks. I say CUT THE PROGRAM – SAVE THE MONEY!

And, here’s the next generation fighter jet ((http://gizmodo.com/5873209/this-is-lockheed-martins-new-amazing-fighterbut-do-we-really-need-it) I SAY NO – SAVE THE MONEY!

Let’s close a lot of military bases around the world and let other countries take care of themselves.

Tax Loopholes – I can’t say that I’m for an absolute flat tax as it tends to hit low wage earners much harder – maybe if there was a floor. However, I could be persuaded if the numbers were right. But, I would eliminate all deductions except the mortage tax deduction… that’s it… the only one left.

Then, there are the entitlements – which I hate calling entitlements. People did work for these benefits… they did pay into these funds. It was Congress who raided those funds and used them in an inappropriate manner. That said, I think the time has come for a couple of changes: means testing seems to be a simple start. And, remove the social security cap on taxable wages.

Keep in mind all of this comes from the mind of a a very left leaning wackadoodle – I could be wrong!

Addendum: Let’s eliminate Agriculture and Big Oil subsidies. And, Goodbye Department of Education. Let’s get back to local control.
