My Matthew 25 takeaway from Jim Wallis’ book today: “Christ’s judgement here is not about having the wrong doctrine or theology; it’s not about sexual misdeeds or other misbehaviors, or any other personal sin or failure. The EVERLASTING judgement here is based on how we have treated the poorest and most vulnerable in our midst and in the world. Christ himself regards the good or ill we have done to them as the moral equivalent of how we have treated him.”
Not once does Jesus pass judgement on the poor. He never discusses the behavior, motivation, etc that may have led to their present situation. Nope, the judgement rests on those capable of offering help to the poor.
WE CAN DO BETTER PEOPLE! WE MUST DO BETTER!
